Bourgeoisie of Ginestra
The Establishment and the middle class keep a low profile. Not all of them agree with the Dux, but they prefer relative daytime peace to the price of nightly ruckus in the harbour and fireworks from the Ducal palace. Some of them have lent large sums of capital to the Dux and are now dependent on him, as his policies grow more and more independent and reckless.
The former Austro-Hungarian officials have largely abandoned ship, but some have stayed and continue to maintain law and order under the charge of the Dux. They silently hope for an integration in Italy or Yugoslavia and the peaceful overthrow of the Dux. Father Pietro is one representative of this attitude.
However, most of the Ginestran bourgeoisie takes the chance to party the night away, especially enjoying Mayann’s spectacular show…
