In The Shadows
I inked this on two separate papers by hand and four different documents digitally, combining all of them (sloppily). It was really difficult to dare to go black & white and completely forgo greyscales. I do like greyscales, but it’s time to learn to ink shadows properly. Especially on faces, which is always tricky – I hesitate to cover “pretty” lineart, my hand trembles once and everything is ruined… One careless brushstroke or two, and what could be a cute smirk turns creepy. (I don’t know if Falco passes that test here…)
MOCHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII … whyyy is she climbing like that ………
I think the black & white ink looks really good! To me it feels somehow more ‘real’ or ‘true’ (trüe :3) than with grayscales. (Also I got a pang of nostalgia for Driftwood from reading this page … why …)
But of course, with Falco the question is *always* “creepy or cute?” :3
